URBAN PLANNING: VISIONING AND FRAMING THE FUTURE
OF A SECTOR THAT IS IN CONSTANT FLUX

During my first mandate while in the role of official Opposition, I often deplored the fact that several major projects were being built in any given sector, often outside of current zoning regulations, without any thought to an overall vision for the sector, without consideration of concrete constraints (often linked to traffic) and completely out of touch with the needs
of the existing local population.

2013 local platform commitments:
Set up consultation meetings and recognize the significant value of citizens’ input
regarding real estate development.
Protect existing green spaces such as the one above the Lionel Groulx metro.
A Projet Montréal administration will develop a comprehensive plan for large areas of the territory in order to ensure a long-term vision that is in tune with the needs of the existing local population.
Ask the city of Montreal to undertake sector specific Urban Planning Programs (PPU) in consultation with the population.
This overall vision of development must meet the needs of the current population, encourage families to remain in their neighborhoods and mitigate the problems tied to traffic and construction related problems.

  MY ACHIEVEMENTS

I implemented a global visioning and urban planning process: A comprehensive consultation and collective brainstorming process with local community groups and residents, on the future of an entire sector and in the context of multiple parameters (traffic, zoning, public investments, etc. ...)

• I coordinated various borough services in context of the planning of the Hibernia square sector in the heart
of Pointe-Saint-Charles (expansion of the library, construction of the seniors' pavilion, traffic, etc.)
